We recently had the opportunity to visit Japan, where Jim Riordan (Managing Director) and Mark Lewis (Chief Commercial Officer) met with key customers and explored manufacturing facilities. This visit gave us valuable insights into the increasing demand for guaranteed quality in raw materials for premium food and beverage production.
” Each time we visit Japan we are impressed by the standard of cleanliness of facilities and appreciate the importance of maintaining a food standard quality in our own handling systems in Australia,” said Jim Riordan.
“Japan’s dedication to quality and traceability will need to be respected throughout the entire value chain from paddock through to port and beyond.”
Japan has been a trusted and valued market for Australian grain for years, especially in premium segments. Australian barley is highly sought after for its top-tier malting and brewing properties. As technology evolves and consumer preferences shift toward sustainable, traceable ingredients, we see a growing opportunity to deliver tailored solutions to our Japanese partners.
Beyond barley, there’s also increasing interest in wheat and oilseeds— areas where Riordan’s has strong expertise. We’re excited to explore our synergies and strengthen access to specialised markets, working alongside our Japanese customers to meet their evolving needs.
“There’s recognised potential to strengthen our business relationships,” said Mark Lewis. “By collaborating closely with our Japanese partners, we can continue providing premium, sustainable, and traceable grain solutions.”
